Naturopathic Primary Care
Evaluation, Diagnostics, and Treatment
Trained as a primary care doctor, I am committed to being my patients’ companion in navigating the healthcare system, and empowering my community wth access to personalized support. This support can include western evaluation and diagnostics of any health concern, referrals to specialists, functional and specialty lab orders and interpretation, and offering naturopathic treatments as well as pharmaceutical interventions when necessary.
Preventative Screenings
Naturopathic doctors are also equipped to offer annual wellness exams, sports physicals, and general check-ups. At these visits, we’d order age-appropriate screenings and perform risk assessments to determine what other appropriate screenings should be done for you, such as testing for anemia, cardiovascular disease, thyroid disease, hormonal concerns, and STIs. Naturopaths can facilitate appropriate cancer screenings as well.
Functional Medicine
By utilizing specialized training in naturopathic philosophy, naturopathic treatments, clinical ecology, and environmental medicine, a large part of my practice is centralized around optimizing the structure and function of the human body. I understand how to implement an abundance of tools such as functional labs, specific nutriceutical / supplement recommendation, herbal medicine, and pharmaceuticals using a patient-centered approach to optimize human health.
Specialized Nutritional Supplements
Naturopathic Doctors have extensive training in evidence-based nutraceutical prescriptions for function optimization, prevention of disease, and disease management. I always consider supplement source, herb/nutrient-drug interactions, nutrient-nutrient interactions before making recommendations. I also appreciate and understand how to correct aquired nutrient deficiency that can happen with long-term use of some pharmaceuticals.
Herbal Medicine
Western herbal medicine utilizes medicinal plants and mushrooms to manage a wide spectrum of diseases from acute infections to cardiovascular disease. By understanding the biochemistry of herbal formulas and preparations, therapeutic dosing and administration, side effects, and herb-drug interactions all while keeping sustainability in mind, herbal medicine continues to be one of my most effective and favorite modalities to employ.
Pain Management
Physical medicine offers support in recovering from acute injury and chronic pain. We offer direct hands-on therapies such as deep tissue massage and therapeutic stretching, as well as indirect hands-on therapies such as craniosacral therapy. I also have specialized training in Intraoral Massage (IOM) for TMJ dysfunction and have a special interest in neck and head tension.
On top of hands-on manual therapies, we also offer the following orthopedic and regenerative injections for chronic pain relief, nerve entrapment, and joint stabilization:
Trigger point injections
Neural and Perineural injections
Prolotherapy
Combining physical medicine modalities with lifestyle counseling, ergonomic correction, therapeutic exercises, nutrition counseling and herbal medicine offers a natural, non-pharmacologic approach to acute and chronic injury healing. Additionally, taking a multisystem approach to pain by evaluating for dysfunction in the nervous system, the digestive system or the immune system rounds out the care I offer.
Digestive Health
“All disease begins in the gut” - Hippocrates
The gut is not just a digestive organ. It’s central to immune regulation, inflammation, nutrient absorption, and nervous system signaling. Problems in any of these areas can ripple outward and contribute to many chronic conditions. This is one area I address with all of my patients, because it is one of the biggest “root causes” of illness. I have a clinical interest and extensive training in the management of Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO), Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth (IFO), and Mast Cell Activation Disorders (MCAD/MCAS), which are often the root cause of immune dysregulation, inflammation, and nutrient malabsorption.
About 70% of the body’s immune cells live in the gut! If the gut lining is damaged (sometimes called “leaky gut”), or the microbiome is imbalanced, the immune system can shift toward chronic activation. This low-grade inflammation is a driver of pain, fatigue, and even autoimmune conditions. The gut determines how well nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, and amino acids are absorbed. Poor gut function can leave the body underpowered for repair, energy production, and stress resilience. And by communicating directly with the brain through the vagus nerve, the inflamed gut can amplify sympathetic overdrive (“fight-or-flight”) and worsen central sensitization, keeping pain and fatigue alive long after the original injury.
Autoimmune Disease
My approach to autoimmune disease focuses on addressing the root causes of immune dysfunction, modulating the immune response, and supporting the body’s natural healing processes. Naturopathic doctors work to identify triggers, such as food sensitivities or environmental toxins. We emphasize a holistic treatment plan, including lifestyle modifications, nutrition, stress management, and personalized herbal or supplement protocols to reduce inflammation and balance the immune system, with the aid of pharmaceuticals if appropriate. The goal is to empower the patient to manage their condition through natural, non-invasive methods.
Cardiovascular Health
Whether you have already been diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, or if you want to take active steps in preventing Cardiovascular and Metabolic disease, we are here to offer a holistic approach. Nutrition and lifestyle changes are the first-line treatment for these common conditions, and the importance of these interventions are recognized by the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. As a Naturopathic physician, I’d aim to employ therapeutic nutrition, lifestyle changes, and evidence-based herbal and nutrient supplementation prescriptions, while leveraging my training in behavior change counseling to help with any obstacles that may present themselves during your journey. When a little extra support is required, we can begin to lean on pharmaceutical medications and offer adjunctive natural therapies to reduce side effects from these drugs.
Massage Therapy
I am dual licenced as an ND and LMT, and have been working as a licensed massage therapist since 2019, with a special interest in sports and rehabilitation massage. My favorite area of the body to work is the neck, as it plays a crucial role in overall stress and tension relief. I am confident in addressing muscular imbalances in the upper and lower body and improving posture. I’ve had the privilege of working at Roosevelt Chiropractic and Massage, where I’m eagerly expanding my services and continue providing care with that amazing team.
